WOnly 25 spots a day ould you like to learn how to make pasta like a real Italian – no pasta machines required? Let Jaco Brand of Picardi Place outside Rawsonville teach you the art of making pasta and a bolognese sauce from scratch. The workshop starts at 10:00 with a welcome drink and an introduction by Jaco. Next, participants will visit the farm’s permaculture garden, where Jaco will share a few basic principles and practical tips about this approach to gardening. We’ll also pick some ingredients and fetch eggs for the cooking class to follow.
At 11:00, Willie Stofberg of Du Toitskloof Wines will present a short wine-tasting before we get cracking with the pasta class, in which we’ll be using the fantastic unbleached stoneground flour from Eureka Mills. While we’re making pasta, Nico Steyn of Eureka will give us the lowdown on the benefits of stoneground flour – and Platteland will be there throughout to chat and take photos.
Then it’s time to sit down for the delicious freshly cooked lunch with wine from Du Toitskloof. We’ll end the day with home-baked carrot cake and coffee.
