Tour guide Jeanne was the Platteland guide on a tour of iSimangaliso, which we booked with Advantage Tours. We chose a seven-hour tour costing R700 per person: You leave at 06:00 and meander through the reserve to Cape Vidal, where you can scuba-dive or simply lie on the beach before Jeanne cooks breakfast over the coals for the group, for up to a maximum of nine people. We saw a variety of wildlife, including black rhino, wildebeest, kudu, dung beetles, hornbills and a magnificent leopard.
