Thinus, originally from Kareedouw, is head of marketing at Woodlands Dairy. The quality of life here is important to him. “It’s safe and quiet, and children can still ride their bicycles in the streets.” He believes the schools benefit the local economy. “If parents have to start driving their children to schools in other towns, they slowly start to do their shopping and more things there too. This has the potential to split a community.” Woodlands contributes a lot in terms of sponsorships for the schools in Humansdorp. “We have to look after what we have here,” Thinus says. “It’s special.”
