Separating the wheat from the chaff
Harvest season rolls around in October, when all available equipment and manpower are harnessed to remove the crop from the land as fast as possible. When a harvester’s grain tank is full, its contents are emptied into a trailer and drawn to the thresher by a tractor. The wheat is pumped into the thresher, where the chaff is further separated from the wheat. The winnowed wheat eventually ends up in a third trailer, which is transported to the silos.
