USE CONTAINERS FOR YOUNG OR THIRSTY PLANTS

-

Young or waterdemanding plants can be kept adequately hydrated in containers or pots with a fraction of the water compared with planting in the ground. We all like to keep a few delicate plants and, unless you have huge amounts of water available, containers are a great way to do this. In drought conditions, tubs and large pots can even provide surprising amounts of fresh herbs and vegetables. Tomatoes, peppers and eggplant all do well in containers. Raised beds with semiclosed bottoms are effectively giant containers and can be a water-efficient way to grow vegetables. Containers are a great way to add interest with minimal water, especially if they receive rainwater.
