Eat out Snobs Coffee Roastery

You may have come across the Snobs Coffee brand elsewhere, but the coffee shop in Trompsburg is the only one in the Free State. Snobs uses infra-red heat to roast its beans to ensure a thoroughly roasted bean with a bittersour flavour. A fire on winter days makes it a great spot for light lunches and, yes, the coffee is excellent.

Affi Plaas Coffee Shop & Grill

It’s well worth turning off the N1 to pop in at Affi Plaas. It’s the first place you’ll see as you drive into town, right next to the filling station. The food and the ambience are highly recommended. Next thing you know, you’ll have a beer and end up staying over in Trompsburg. Do it – you’ll be glad you did. You can also buy fresh meat, such as boxes of neatly packaged mutton. Affi Plaas Coffee Shop and Grill 082 806 5528

Tromp-Op Boerekos

This is where you’ll take a few steps back in time. The place is filled with antiques – and the bathroom is fast becoming a national attraction. Boerekos is the main attraction, but there are also burgers, steak and ribs on the menu. It’s the only restaurant that’s open in the evenings. Tromp-Op Boerekos
