Doing nothing is perfectly acceptable in Koringberg, but you can get your daily exercise by walking through the town or along the service road beside the railway line. Or try the lovely walking trail that starts on the farm Hooggeleë and takes you through fields and patches of renosterveld, offering great views along the way (on clear days you will see Table Mountain and the sparkling waters of the West Coast). Because the trail runs across private farmland, you’ll need to ask permission – and that way, the farm watch can be informed. 083 597 0091 (Bregda).
View or buy art (by appointment)
At least three artists live and work in Koringberg and their work can be viewed and purchased by appointment. • Pippa Lea Pennington finds most of her inspiration in nature: succulents and aloes, trees, landscapes and still lives, as well as portraits in oil, watercolours, pastels, ink and crayons. @pippa.lea. pennington pippa.lea.p@gmail.com (Also see page 69 and page 136.)
• Leon Potgieter makes modern, sometimes wonderfully absurd, pieces out of clay. potterbakker.co.za Leon Potterbakker info@potterbakker. co.za 082 955 6547
