We live close enough to Witsand

Nature Reserve to allow sneaky weekend visits. While the reserve is known for its brulsand – sand that “roars” when agitated by the wind – you can also see game like gemsbok, springbok and red hartebeest. It’s a very special place for us because we got engaged there!

We’re also privileged to have the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (almost) in our backyard. It offers everything we love: great landscapes, good campsites (Nossob is our favourite) and plenty of wildlife that we love to photograph. You meet super-friendly people because everyone who comes to the park shares the same love for nature. In the campsite, your neighbour will always be up for a chat or will help out with something if needed.

When we feel like a beach holiday, we head west to Namaqua National Park –specifically the campsite at Koringkorrelbaai. Go out of season and you’ll have the place all to yourself.

You’ll have your own private beach, with dolphins passing by in the afternoon. At night, the sound of the waves will lull you to sleep. • Witsand Nature Reserve
