TREAT YOURSELF
KLEIN JAN, TSWALU KALAHARI PRIVATE WILDLIFE RESERVE
Tswalu is an exclusive reserve about 82 km south-east of Van Zylsrus. It’s all about ultra-luxury ecotourism – think safari outings with your own private guide and tracker, spa treatments and fine dining.
The accommodation rates will make your eyes water and day visitors aren’t allowed, but if you’d like to experience Tswalu at a fraction of the cost, go have lunch at Klein JAN restaurant.
Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen is the first South African chef to earn a Michelin star and he runs this restaurant in the reserve. Bookings are made three months in advance for specific dates. It costs R2 500 p.p. for a seven-course tasting menu and wine pairing. reservations@ restaurantkleinjan.com
