CHAMELEON BUSH LODGE

-

As beautiful as the veld around here might be, it’s dry. As a result, the upmarket units at Chameleon Bush Lodge – ringed by lush lawn and within site of a sparkling splash pool – seem like an oasis in the surrounding khaki-ness. There are views of a small waterhole from all the units and birdwatching is fantastic so don’t leave your binoculars at home. All the units are self-catering with covered braai areas – the family units have espresso machines, nogal! Facilities: There are seven units in total: five that sleep two and two family units that sleep four. Of the five twosleeper units, three are free-standing and those three also have awesome outdoor showers. The two family units have huge kitchens and fire pits outside, plus a TV and coffee machine for extra luxury. Owners Carlien and Chris Pieterse live in the DGR and they’re busy building an events area with a lapa and bar on the premises. Soon this will be a great place for small groups who can book out the entire venue. TIP Guided game drives and bush walks are available at the larney Mongena Game Lodge next door. Sign up! How to get there: Take the Hammanskraal/Boekenhoutskloof off-ramp from the N1. Turn right just after the toll gate and go over the highway. Take the first road to the left: the D48/Rust de Winter road. Enter the DGR through the main gate ( Tau) and continue for about 5 km until you reach Chameleon Bush Lodge. Phone the number on the gate to gain entry. Rates: Mid-week rates for chalets and family units are the same: R325 per person. On weekends and public holidays, the chalets are R485 per person and family units are R520 per person (single rate R100 extra).
