Get artsy
Anton Rupert and his wife Huberte were beloved members of the Stellenbosch community. Both have passed away, but local residents still benefit from their philanthropy. The Rupert Museum opened in 2006 and houses the Ruperts’ private art collection, which includes works by Anton van Wouw, Irma Stern, Maggie Laubser and several international artists. There’s currently a unique exhibition on loan from the Transnet Foundation, featuring about 30 landscapes Pierneef painted for the Joburg railway station in the 1930s. Where? Stellentia Road, Die Boord Entrance fee: R20 per adult; R10 per child. Opening times: Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
