While visiting friends at Umfula Estate near Hoedspruit, we saw this spotted bush snake take two hours to eat a grey tree frog. The deck at the house has a view of the Olifants River and a number of these frogs live in and around it. I spent most of the two hours lying flat on my stomach with a 500 mm lens, trying to get the right shot in the dying evening light. Our time at Umfula was part of a longer camping road trip from Cape Town to the Kruger, and this was the most memorable wildlife encounter, without a doubt. HOWARD LANGLEY, Clovelly
