The Rumble in the Jungle
During a game drive near Tlopi Tented Camp in Marekele National Park, we came around a bend and found two male white rhinos entangled in what seemed to be a ferocious territorial battle. It was a sight to behold: their heavy breathing, the clouds of dust, the noise of trees and bushes breaking as they fought… We watched them for about 40 minutes. I managed to capture a few good action shots, but I also had to repeatedly start up and move Old Faithful – my 12-year-old VW kombi – out of harm’s way. The magnificent beasts didn’t even notice us as they wrestled across the road several times. They were both bleeding! RICHARD FAUL, Pretoria
