Scarred but beautiful
The last time I was in Angola, it was the 1970s and I was travelling in a Buffel infantry mobility vehicle, armed with an R1 battle rifle. This played on my mind when I visited the country in July 2019 on a fishing expedition – this time with a passport, fishing rod and camera. We travelled to the southern parts of the coastline and all along there were many military wrecks and signs of the war. The coastline is exceptional – I sometimes was so in awe of the cliffs and sharp rocks that I forgot to fish!
