FUJIFILM INSTAX SQ1

-

Old school or modern? Technology has made us impatient: We want to upload our photos to Instagram the moment we take them. The Instax SQ1 satisfies this need in a different way: It immediately prints out the photo you take, like a Polaroid. The tactile product – a 6x6 cm paper photo – does something that a digital photo can’t: You can put that pic of you and your grandmother straight into your wallet or stick it to her fridge door. Wonderful! When will I use it? It’s perfect for special events like a family gathering, a wedding or a birthday. There are only 10 photos per film pack, so give each person a chance to take one photo. Young and old can get involved! How does it work? Just press the shutter button and the rest takes care of itself. You can set the lens to take a selfie (you can see yourself in a small mirror mounted next to the lens) or keep the normal setting for all other photos. To turn the camera off, you just turn the ring around the lens.

Be careful… When the camera is on, it’s easy to accidentally press the shutter button – it’s located where you naturally want to hold the camera – and you don’t want to waste film! Cost? R1 895 for the camera; R215 for a 10-pack of film (buy the box with two packs of 10 each – it’s more affordable). outdoorphoto.co.za or ormsdirect.co.za
