FUJIFILM XS10
Fujifilm has been one of the market leaders in mirrorless camera technology for a while now. They’ve regularly released new models, and their lens line-up is expanding by the year. The new Fujifilm X-S10 is suitable for photographers who have used a D-SLR-type camera before but want to switch over to mirrorless without losing the “feel” of a D-SLR. It has a good hand grip, and the buttons and controls resemble those of a D-SLR, so it’s a good camera for serious amateurs.
What do I get? No one will complain about the 26.1-megapixel sensor and 4K video capability. The built-in image stabilisation (called “5-Axis Sensor-Shift Stabilisation”) will keep your photos and video sharp, even if you’re three coffees down and feeling a bit jittery.
The electronic viewfinder (remember, mirrorless cameras don’t have an optical viewfinder like a D-SLR) is also the first one I’ve used that made me feel like I’m finally ready to make the switch to mirrorless. In the past, the image quality of other electronic viewfinders wasn’t good enough for me and irritated my eye when I looked through them. The X-S10’s viewfinder is bright and clear. It doesn’t have this problem.
And the lens? The 16 – 80 mm lens offers a little bit of everything – you can take wide-angle landscape shots, portrait photos, and zoom in on that quiver tree so you won’t have to climb a koppie.
