RATHER BE SAFE THAN SORRY

Theoretically, all the passes in the Eastern Cape highlands are traversable in a family car with decent ground clearance, but be very careful in winter after snow, or any time after heavy rain. We travelled in a 4x4 Ford Everest, in late autumn, on dry roads.
