FANCOURT SETS CONDITIONING BENCHMARK
Fancourt has again been rated as having the best conditioned courses. The Links at Fancourt received an average mark of 8.2 out of 10 from Golf Digest’s rating team, while the Montagu course’s mark was 8.0 and the Outeniqua 7.75.
Only two courses nationwide received an average of 8 or better, which is regarded as exceptional.
Fancourt has set the standard for conditioning ever since the resort was opened in the early 1990s. But several other courses are close behind in terms of yearon-year excellence, including St Francis Links and Glendower which scored 7.90. The reopened East Course at Royal J&K was rated at 7.70, just ahead of the Gary Player CC (7.65) and PearlValley (7.62).
The gol ng world’s best Conditioning mark belongs to Augusta National, which scored 8.97 in the 2017-18 America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses.Augusta still nished No 2 on the rankings behind PineValley, which earned 8.69 for conditioning.The worst conditioning mark among America’s 100 best was 7.37.
