Durban Country Club will be hosting the Sanlam SA Amateur for the first time in 40 years, from February 25 to March 2. DCC used to be a regular host of the championship, starting in 1924, at least once or twice a decade. But the tournament has moved around KwaZulu-Natal since then, three times being played at Royal Durban, and once each atVictoria CC and Mount Edgecombe. The last SA Amateur at Country Club was an historic occasion in 1978. Zimbabwean Teddy Webber beat Etienne Groenewald in the final to become the only player to win the trophy back-to-back.This year will be the 10th SA Amateur at DCC, one fewer than the 11 hosted by both Humewood GC and East London GC.
