LIFESTYLE IS THE ATTRACTION
Bryanston Country Club celebrates 70th birthday with its biggest membership ever.
The Bryanston Country Club celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2018.With its wonderful traditions and heritage, prime location and magnificent facilities it is proud to be recognised as one of the most successful and progressive clubs in South Africa.
The club’s styling captures the essence of the relaxed, yet elegant family lifestyle.
The club’s leaders have developed a successful strategy that has focused on a holistic lifestyle for its members. International trends have shown that a club will struggle to survive in our modern world on traditional golf alone – you need to attract different demographics and offer more than just golf. The club’s tagline – “It’s a lifestyle” – encompasses what the club is aiming for.
The club is blessed with a beautiful parkland setting, in the heart of Africa’s economic hub, offering a modern and attractive clubhouse which includes restaurants with excellent cuisine, function venues, meeting rooms, a swimming pool, bowling greens, squash and tennis courts. Bryanston offers many social activities for members and their guests.
The 18-hole classic parkland course is one of Gauteng’s premier and most popular championship layouts – hosting 45 000 golfers per annum. The focus on improved conditioning and the emphasis on the environment through better turf and water management, biodiversity planning and monitoring has been successful. In 2017 the club won both the CMASA Green Award and the John Collier Award for Good Governance and Environmental Compliance. Reviewers were impressed by Bryanston’s balanced approach to sustainability.
In tough economic conditions Bryanston’s performance has bucked trends and with over 3 000 members the club has its biggest membership ever! The average member age has dropped to a healthy 48 years and new families are enjoying the relaxed and vibrant atmosphere at the club. Providing sports development programmes for juniors in all sports offered will ensure the future growth and long term sustainability of both the club and the various sports.
The club was proud to host a successful SA Interprovincial in 2017 and GolfRSA CEO Grant Hepburn summed it up best when he wrote: “Congratulations on creating a club that oozes success and hospitality and goes out of its way to make visitors feel welcome. Bryanston is a microcosm of what GolfRSA should be striving for. It encourages family participation, is forward thinking, engages with its customer base and thinks out of the box, yet doesn’t forget the traditions and values of the great game of golf.”
