Good Housekeeping (South Africa) - - BODY -

On your next brunch date, plan a stroll for dessert – walking can dramatically boost heart health in women over 50. Those who hoofed it for 40 minutes two or three times a week had a nearly 25% lower risk of heart failure, according to new research presented at the American College of Cardiology’s Scientific Session. Whatever a woman’s weight or activity level, adding regular walks at an average to fast pace was a win – and, of course, putting one foot in front of the other is smart for everyone, including the dog. Feeling motivated? Speed up, which can boost the benefits even more.
