‘I bought a lovely old dresser but it smells musty. What can I do to get rid of the smell?’

Good Housekeeping (South Africa) - - YOUR HOME -

THAT SMELL IS PROBABLY a combination of a little damp and trapped dust, and is easy to sort out. Give it a thorough clean with a damp cloth and good old Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid (R28,99, Pick n Pay). Wipe off soap with a damp cloth, then dry well. Sprinkle bicarb throughout the drawers and leave it for two days. Vacuum away the bicarb and line the drawers with scented drawer liners – it should smell lovely and fresh!
