An infusion of local flavour

Meet the South African gins gaining traction

-

BLACK ROSE R299

Created by longtime drinks marketing expert Seth Pereira, this newcomer makes its name as the only pomegranate-infused gin on the market, giving it its own unique flavour and striking pink colour. Crafted in a copper pot, which helps to enrich the flavour, the gin has a sweetness of pomegranate that’s balanced out with orange and familiar juniper berries.

GEOMETRIC GIN R499

What’s the best ways to ensure a seamless experience from bottle to glass? Control the whole flavour supply chain. Co-founded by Jean-Baptise Cristini, Geometric Drinks makes uses of wild and sustainably farmed plants, making for a distinctly Cape flavour marked by citrus, cardamom and juniper. Complementing this is the company’s own range of botanical tonics, naturally produced without additives or preservatives and with 75 per cent less sugar.

JIN GIN R390

This new release sees musician and foodie J’Something turning his attention to spirits. Teaming up with Beverage Emporium and Craft Link, he’s created a gin with great flavour and personality. The three Jin Gin variants mirror J’Something’s own South African and Portuguese heritage, with a range including an orange, rooibos and honey variant; tomato and sweet piquante pepper; and even olive and honey.
