make your own rules

TV presenter and fashion maverick Gemaen Taylor gives us the lowdown on his personal style – and his journey with Haig Club Clubman

-

Talk us through your journey into TV presenting. How did it all begin?

Four years ago I was asked to do a closed audition and that’s how I got the gig which led onto greater things in production for me. I studied marketing and never thought

I’d work in television, but it just happened and I’m happy for the way things have turned out.

You’re a lover of all things style – has this always come natural to you?

Fashion has always been a natural interest of mine. As a kid going shopping with my mother, I remember how happy it would make me when I would get new clothes, and from an early age she gave me free range to put my own outfits together.

What does personal style mean to you?

Style is in the way we wear things, and how we do things. It’s a personal thing, and it has mirrored my career journey because I know what works for me and I excel by sticking to it.

What advice would you pass on to the next generation?

Don’t get caught up with other people’s success. And don’t think that you’re not doing enough by putting an age limit on what you should have done or should be doing. Trust the journey of your life and your own vision.

What’s special to you about your journey with Haig Club Clubman?

It’s added so much pleasure to my professional and personal life. It stirs my creativity and I got to meet and work with one of my inspirations, David Beckham.

What does ‘making your own rules’ mean to you?

The concept resonates with me perfectly because I’m a person who marches to the beat of my own drum.

What’s your favourite way to enjoy a whisky?

There are so many ways to drink Haig Club Clubman, a whisky that represents more than what the traditional whisky drinker has been known for. My personal favorite cocktail is a Minty Haig, everybody should taste it! haigclub.com
