GQ: Having been in the business for so long, do you still find yourself learning new things or having new experiences?

SM: Yes, I have had so many new digital experiences. It’s made me realise things are so different now and there is so much to learn. Thank god I work with people who know so much about it.

GQ: In 2017 you had a ‘self-made’ roundtable of entrepreneurs that showcased your passion to give back – why do you love such platforms?

SM: It’s a big thing of mine to connect. I had a terrible start in my 20s, I was really messed up and I was lucky to find a career on my own. There are a lot of kids in their 20s, or younger people in general who are struggling. If I am able to help I’d like to.

GQ: What are the core values of the brand? SM: Trend and style.

GQ: Global shoe domination is the name of the game and you are currently leading the victory pack. What has been the secret to your designs having universal appeal?

SM: Relentlessness and eternal vigilance.

GQ: What have been some of the inspirations behind your designs?

SM: So many things inspire us it’s hard to put it on one thing, we are very interested in what’s going on in the world right now.

GQ: You’ve persevered to grow your brand and show what exactly you are made of – what drives you?

SM: We want to keep making the best shoes we can, that’s always been the goal.

GQ: Do you have any superstitious beliefs or self-imposed rules by which you live?

SM: Yes I do, it’s a work ethic, really. I believe if you take care of the small things the bigger things will fall in place.
