THE EVOLUTION OF THE RUNNING SHOE
if you enjoy the experience of running, competitively or not, you need a shoe that helps you perform at your best and avoid injury. Here, we highlight the game-changing brands that have introduced new technology that does just that.
This is the latest version of Reebok’s plant-based highperformance running shoe.
Conscious of the impact of unsustainable waste materials on the environment, this brand has made an effort to source and design more sustainable products for our future, evident in the natural materials it uses, such as castor beans, eucalyptus, algae bloom and natural rubber, without forsaking the high-performance standards of best-in-class running shoes. In fact,
Reebok guarantees at least 50% of the materials it uses are plant-based.
There are two pillars under which the brand focuses its sustainability efforts: (REE)GROW to create products from natural materials and (Ree)cycled to create products from recycled or repurposed materials.
By 2024, Reebok plans to eliminate virgin polyester from its material mix.
Joel Charley, chief operating officer of Midnight Runners UK, says, ‘As far as I can tell there’s no sacrifice in performance and certainly not in style. This no-compromise, sustainable approach is wonderful to experience as Reebok takes steps (no pun intended) towards doing their part for the future of our planet.’
