The perfect location for premium business and leisure living

-

Johannesburg Marriott hotel Melrose arch and Marriott executive apartments combines a premium business hotel with state-of-theart facilities and a sought after extended stay destination with fully serviced apartment living. Located in the Melrose Arch Precinct, it vibrates with the energy of trendy cafes, high street boutiques and alfresco restaurants a short distance from its doorstep.

The Marriott Hotel has 306 guest rooms, including 10 junior suites and a contingent of sharing rooms ideal for groups. On a recent business trip to Joburg, we stayed in one of 84 spacious Marriott Executive Apartments, a three-bedroom unit complete with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge designed for consummate comfort, convenience and style.

After a morning workout using the stateof-the-art equipment at the fitness centre, we lounged by the outdoor heated swimming pool, wrapped in a luxurious crimson towel, a drink from the pool bar in hand. The hotel features seven meeting rooms, including a ballroom (divisible into four separate venues) totalling over 800-square-metres of function space and an additional 600-square-metres of pre-function space. The Green Room offers an exclusive pre-event space for hosting VIP dignitaries and speakers. The M Club Lounge is reserved for the Marriott Bonvoy™ Elite and Club paying members, accessible 24-7 with free Wifi, printing and power supplies to ensure uninterrupted productivity.

Our transition between relaxation and work was made possible by The Greatroom, the Hotel’s reimagined lobby and reception area, designed specifically for the 24-7 work patterns of business travellers. Its adaptable zones enabled us to meet and work in small groups, take time out and casually dine.

We ate at the 186-seat Keystone Bistro, which went beyond dining to deliver us a curated experience defined by delicious, locally inspired cuisine, highly attentive service and a lively yet relaxing atmosphere. It was stylish but entirely unpretentious, striking the ideal balance between simplicity and sophistication. Natural light flowed through floor-to-ceiling windows and bounced off the high ceilings throughout the space. The menu featured a combination of grills such as Chalmar 21-day aged sirloin on the bone and signature bistro dishes such as slow-cooked beef oxtail.

Then there’s the Archer Bar & Eatery, equal parts bar and coffee hangout with a dash of street food dining thrown in for good measure, which aspires to a philosophy of authenticity and unassuming excellence. This charismatic social space invites neighbouring locals to savour speciality coffee, creative mixology, local craft beers and inventive artisanal street food that showcase local flavour.
