Ar­ran­ge­ments in pla­ce for inau­gu­ral Clash of the C­hoirs

A­BER­DEEN — Ar­ran­ge­ments are being ¿na­li­sed for the inau­gu­ral Clash of the C­hoirs fe­s­ti­val for the Dr Bey­ers Nau­de Lo­cal mu­ni­ci­pa­li­ty, to be hos­ted t­his y­e­ar by A­ber­deen.

A to­tal of 18 c­hoirs will be per­for­ming, from throug­hout the mu­ni­ci­pa­li­ty.

The­re will be church c­hoirs from A­ber­deen and Graaff-reinet, schools from Jan­sen­vil­le, K­lip­plaat, Wil­low­mo­re, Graaff-reinet and A­ber­deen, and com­mu­ni­ty c­hoirs from S­teyt­ler­vil­le, Jan­sen­vil­le, Graaff-reinet and A­ber­deen. A­bout 250 pe­op­le are ex­pected to be par­ti­ci­pa­ting, and so­me glo­ri­ous mu­sic is an­ti­ci­pa­ted.

The c­hoirs will be ad­ju­di­ca­ted by a pa­nel of jud­ges, in­clu­ding Garth Hit­ge (pre­vi­ous­ly Re­ve­nue Ac­coun­tant in Cam­de­boo Mu­ni­ci­pa­li­ty, and or­ga­nist at St Ja­mes’ Church), Cl­lr No­ti­zi Van­da from Jan­sen­vil­le, Zan­di­le Sa­ka­ta from the De­part­ment of Sport, Re­cre­a­ti­on, Arts and Cul­tu­re, Ro­ber­to de Ja­ger (A­rea Mu­sic Coor­di­na­tor for the New A­pos­to­lic Church) and his wi­fe, te­a­cher and mu­si­ci­an Este­li­ne.

The Gold­rush foun­da­ti­on, which runs the po­pu­lar ca­si­no in Graaff-reinet, has ge­ne­rous­ly spon­so­red trophies and cash pri­zes for the win­ning choir in e­ach of the four ca­te­go­ries, and well as lunch boxes for all par­ti­ci­pants.

Ma­yor De­on de Vos, who i­ni­ti­a­ted the e­vent, will be pre­sent, and ot­her dig­ni­ta­ries from the mu­ni­ci­pa­li­ty and the dis­trict ha­ve al­so been in­vi­ted.

The e­vent will start prompt­ly at 10:00, and as the­re is li­mi­ted se­a­ting a­vai­la­ble, tho­se wis­hing to at­tend are re­que­sted to ar­ri­ve in good ti­me.
