Michael Ferguson on stage at the John Rupert Theatre

GRAAFF-REINET — In December, talented singer and musician, Michael Ferguson, will perform a diverse repertoire that promises to have the audience tapping their feet at the John Rupert Theatre in Graaff-reinet.

His highly interactiv­e sets include songs from various music genres including Pop, Rock, Country and Classical.

Music fans will be treated to wellexecut­ed covers of familiar hits as well as some of Ferguson’s original material.

Educated at Pretoria Boys High School, he went on to achieve his Grade 8 in classical guitar. Under the wing of Dr Neil van der Watt he also obtained a Grade 5 in Music Theory from the Royal Schools of Music.

Though he considers every performanc­e as significan­t, he lists his performanc­e with Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland at the Sun City Superbowl as one of his most memorable. Another special moment for Ferguson was representi­ng South Africa in London at the Global Battle of the Bands in 2007 with his previous band, Allegra Street. The band also did incredibly well locally with number one hits on the radio.

Ferguson has performed extensivel­y across Africa in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe as well as in Europe, including Ireland, Germany, Italy, England, France and Austria. He released his first album Rock ‘n roll Souljah in 2013 which was featured on major local radio stations such as, Jacaranda FM, Highveld Stereo, 5fm and RSG.
