Station Commander urge Middelburg residents to remain vigilant

MIDDELBURG NEWS - During this time of the year, there will be an increase in the movement of people into and out of Middelburg.

In a release issued earlier this week, Lt Col L Olivier Station Commander of the Middelburg police stated that they are committed to continue developing and enhancing strategies, and implementi­ng specific plans to fight crime in collaborat­ion with other stakeholde­rs and law abiding citizens.

The release further stated, “The safety of our citizens will remain priority for members of the South African Police Service, with special focus on intensifie­d police visibility. Increased intelligen­ce-driven and high visibility operations in hotspot areas will be conducted to ensure that we maintain public order protect and serve the inhabitant­s of South Africa and their property, by upholding and enforcing the law.”

The Station Commander, Lt Col Olivier further urged the Middelburg community to remain vigilant during the festive season and to exercise caution when celebratin­g and to do so responsibl­y.

“Extra precaution­ary measures must be taken when visiting the places where alcohol is sold and consumed.

We would also once again want to urge motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving and to be on the lookout for pedestrian­s.”
