December, a good month for golf

Stoney Steenkamp, the winner of Saturday’s Medal competition, being congratulated by Johnny Ludick. GRAAFF-REINET — This past Saturday, December 2, the Graaff-reinet Golf Club hosted their monthly Medal competition, sponsored by Pick n Pay.

The ‘A’ section was won by Johnny Ludick with a score of 70 Nett, in second place - on a countout - was Charl du Plessis also with 70 Nett.

The ‘B’ section was won by Weppie Weideman with a score of 69 Nett with Jacques Wagener in second place with a score of 71 Nett.

The ‘C’ section was won by Stoney Steenkamp (67 Nett), followed by Hubri Bruyn (68 Nett) in second place.

The Medal winner was Stoney Steenkamp, with Johnny Ludick scoring the best Gross (71).

The weekly Wednesday IPS competition was won by local golfer Johan Brink with 42 points - the Club thanks the Desert Springs Spur for their continued support.

The Golf Club’s programme for the coming month is as follows

• Saturday, December 9: Roman Catholic Church (Sacred Heart Parish) Sponsored Day. The competition has an IPS format and tee-off will commence at 08:00 and then again at 12:30. Please enter at the Golf Club.

• Sunday, December 10: EPGU Midland Open

• Saturday, December 16: 4-Ball Alliance, Christmas Party and Ladies Golf

• Saturday, December 23: IPS Competition

• Tuesday, December 26: Boxing Day Golf. Organise your own 4-ball
