ABERDEEN — One case was finalised in the Aberdeen Magistrate’s Court last week.

Xavier de Beer (25), known as “Boetie Prof”, was found guilty on three counts, two of theft and one of theft out of a motor vehicle.

The theft cases occurred in 2015 and 2016, and it each case, a bicycle was taken.

A radio, amp and speakers were taken from the motor vehicle, in 2015. All three counts were considered together, and he was sentenced to two years imprisonment, suspended for three years.

There were three cases of housebreaking and theft reported last week, and one of robbery.

The robbery happened on January 20 in Otter Street, Lotusville.

At about 19:00, a man selling vegetables on behalf of the grower was enticed into a house by another man, who lived there. The suspect then locked the door behind them and proceeded to threaten the vegetable seller with sheep shears. He took R380 in cash and the victim’s watch. The case is under investigation, and an arrest is expected shortly.

A house in Douglas Street, Lotusville, was broken into sometime between January 16 and January 18. The owner left for work on Tuesday but received a call on Thursday to say that the back door was standing open. The door had been forced open, and a microwave oven and bedding to the value of R2 200 was taken. There are no suspects at this stage.

There is something of a mystery surrounding a housebreaking in Zuma Avenue, Thembalesizwe, last Friday. The householder went to sleep in his bed, and when he woke up the next morning, he discovered that his television, worth R2 800, was missing. All the doors and windows were locked, and there was no sign of forced entry. The final case occurred sometime on Friday night, from a house in De Vos Street, Lotusville.

A window was forced open to gain entry, and a Samsung television, DVD player, and various smaller items were taken, with a total value of just over R6 000.
