Around 100 local acts took part in the auditions for Showville Season 2, hosted in Graaff-reinet in March this year.

The SABC 2 reality programme Showville makes dreams a reality by bringing the glamour and glitz of television to the small, remote and often overlooked dorpies across South Africa.

On Thursday, 22 March, during the auditions at the Alex Laing Hall, hopefuls of all ages, including some well-known local singers and dancers, were keen to show what they've got.

At the end of the day, the show's hosts selected the four acts they felt would put on the best show for the town.

On day two, the coaches began their mentorship of each finalist in preparation for the big show in between juggling their real jobs, their families and their nerves.

Day three brought the final competition in front of a live, local audience. Here it was up to the performers' fellow citizenry - including friends, family, co-workers and neighbours to choose the winning performer.

From the auditions to the coaching through to show night, SABC 2 was there to capture each memorable moment.

On October 28, Graaff-reinetters could see it all during the TV broadcast aired on SABC 2. In the end, The Marimba Kids consisting of Carlo Hendricks, Nathan Wessels, Marlon Harmse and Toffeec Jaftha were crowned as the winners, receiving R10 000 and a glittering trophy signifying that they are the stars of their town.
