Pens do­wn, shoes off

Af­ter t­hey put their pens do­wn at the end of their last ex­am on Mon­day af­ter­noon, 26 No­vem­ber, U­ni­on High S­chool's Ma­tric class of 2018 took off their shoes to do­na­te them to less for­tu­na­te le­ar­ners in the lo­cal com­mu­ni­ty.

A spo­kes­per­son of U­ni­on High S­chool said that the s­chool pri­des it­self in being very in­vol­ved in the com­mu­ni­ty.

She furt­her said that Ma­tric pu­pils do­na­ting their s­chool shoes has been a tra­di­ti­on for the past cou­ple of y­e­ars.

“We ha­ve ma­ny pri­vi­le­ged child­ren in our s­chool who are all very a­wa­re that ma­ny pe­op­le are not that pri­vi­le­ged,” she ad­ded.

The child­ren are very proud to le­a­ve their shoes be­hind, kno­wing that it g­oes to child­ren that can’t af­ford s­chool shoes.

U­ni­on’s Ma­tri­cs ta­king off their shoes af­ter ha­ving writ­ten their fi­nal ex­am on Mon­day.
