Junior chess players to battle it out at SA Junior Chess Championsh­ips

Five bright minds of Union High School in Graaff-reinet will be representi­ng the Chris Hani District at the 2018 South African Junior Chess Championsh­ips (SAJCC).

The Southern African Junior Chess Championsh­ips, the largest junior sporting event of any sporting code in South Africa, will be held in Johannesbu­rg at the Birchwood Conference Centre from 15 to 20 December.

The event will involve more than 2 300 participan­ts, between the ages of six and 19 years, from across South Africa.

The five Unionites who will be participat­ing in this epic battle to outsmart each other for the title of national champion, in their respective age group, is Liano Naidoo (U.18A), Harun Wajid (U.18A), James Rose-innes (U.18A), Tracy Petitt (U.16A) and Amahle Finca (U.16A).
