Art exhibition officially opened

-

NIEU-BETHESDA — Gregg Price’s exhibition ‘Heart of Mine’ opened to a large group of people in Martin Street last Saturday.

What was an empty plot last year has been transformed into a beautiful, conscious space, filled with prints and sculptures that reflect the inner workings of a creative mind.

Locals and visitors alike meandered among the larger than life laser- cut sculptures which are positioned in the yard overlooking Compassberg.

The exhibition was opened by Dineke van der Walt, art curator, who is passionate about contemporary South African art, who spoke in depth about Price’s work.

Local ceramicist Martin Haines spoke sensitively of Gregg and Nicola’s Nieubethesda journey to this point. Inside, the gallery room houses Price’s prints, paintings and some smaller sculptures.

His work is a visual analogue of the subconscious joining of thoughts and emotions as they play and intermingle in a shared space.

Simultaneously surreal, playful, dark and colourful, each work provides much food for thought. The work is beautifully executed and professionally displayed.

A visit to the gallery will provide any viewer with some escapism into the mind of a true artist.
