Allistair Jaftha, the matriculant son of Neco Bokwe and Chrissie Booysen, will, at the start of next year, commence with his studies at the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
Having grown up in Umasizakhe, Graaffreinet, Allistair is indeed a young man the whole community can be immensely proud of.
A true maths whizz, he recently participated in the GMMDC Touchtutor Mathematics Quiz at NMU in which he excelled, making it through to the final round, beating many other competitors in the process, without breaking a sweat.
"We are all very proud," says his elated father, Neco, who has always believed in his young son's potential.
According to Neco, Allistair has excelled in his studies and sporting activities since he was a young child.
"Hardly a year went by in which he wasn't acknowledged at the yearly prizegiving ceremonies."
Allistair started his schooling career at the Khanyisa Day Care Centre in Umasizakhe, after which he attended Nosiseko Educare Centre, commencing with his primary school career in 2006 at the Thembalesizwe Primary School.
This year, he is a proud matriculant of Nqweba Secondary School.
His commitment to his studies these past few years have seen him being accepted to UWC, where he will study towards his degree in the chemical sciences.
Apart from being focussed in his studies, Allistair has also shown some talent in the sporting arena, excelling in athletic events such as the long jump and 100m. He also represented his school on the soccer field.
"Since I started teaching Allistair, I was impressed with his willingness and desire to understand and learn mathematics,"
