Matrics do Nieubethesda proud
NIEU-BETHESDA — There was a celebratory mood in the village last week as 8 young villagers received the news that they had passed matric.
Being so remote, these youngsters all studied away from the village, having been schooled in Graaffreinet or further afield.
Etienne Sweers beamed from ear to ear, proud of his bachelor's pass which he achieved at Hoër Volkskool. Extremely artistic, Etienne will work at the Bethesda Art Centre for a year, while looking for a bursary to study further.
Zabian Davids also achieved a bachelor’s pass from Hoër Volkskool. He will work under his dad's guidance on Zuurplaats farm while deciding where his future will take him.
Monifa Horn also achieved a certificate pass at Hoër Volkskool. Her interests lie in Business management which she hopes to study at the South Cape College in Beaufort West. Claronique Booysens and Ashron Vywers both completed their matric at Spandau Secondary School. Claronique achieved a diploma pass and has an interest in Psychology which she hopes to study further.
Delighted with his certificate pass, Ashron has a love for horseriding but is as yet unsure of what his future holds.
Having grown up in Bethesda, Jose Vywers was schooled further afield at dr. Johan Surgens in Gauteng. Jose achieved a bachelor's pass with two distinctions in Religious studies and Afrikaans FAL.
Jose is keen on going to University to pursue Business Studies. Megan Meintjies and Rebecca Langmead both obtained bachelor's passes at Union High School. Megan obtained two distinctions and is going to study genetics at the University of Pretoria, while Rebecca received four distinctions and looks forward to studying visual communications in Stellenbosch.
Nieu-bethesda is extremely proud of its matriculants and congratulates them on making it through this milestone.
