Golfers off to early start in 2019

Despite the exceptiona­lly hot weather experience­d these past few weeks, a group of stalwarts played golf, no matter what the temperatur­es.

The Graaffrein­et Golf Club would like to thank them for their continued support.

The club also found the many visitors and young players making use of their facilities over the festive season very encouragin­g.

On Saturday, 12 January, the club's first IPS competitio­n for 2019 was won by Weppie Weideman with 39 points.

Chris Lee came in second with 37 points, Anthony Visagie third with 35 points, Neil Dodds fourth with 33 points and fifth and sixth on a count-out Graaff-reinet's talented youngsters Johndre Ludick and Juan-louis du Plessis with 32 points each. On Wednesday, 9 January, the Gold Rush sponsored IPS competitio­n was won by Dave Luscombe on 36 points. Weppie Weideman and Colin Warner where respective­ly in second and third place, on 35 points each.

In the Sundowner competitio­n on Friday, 11 January, Frikkie Coetzee was the happy winner with 14 points.

He beat Colin Warner and Dave Luscombe, who both scored 12 points.

This Saturday, 19 January, the club will be hosting a Betterball competitio­n - players should enter with a partner.
