A Graaff-reinet policeman was busy patrolling Bree Street in Santaville on 10 July at 4.45pm, when he found a man in possession of one mandrax tablet in his pocket.

Captain Bradley Rawlinson, local police spokespers­on, said the suspect admitted the tablet belonged to him and he was arrested.

Possession of drugs Common robbery

A man complained to the police that on

8 July at 7.30pm he was on his way from Umasizakhe, when two males struck him from the back. He fell and they robbed him of cash and his Sony Xperia cellphone. Rawlinson said the suspects are not known to the complainan­t.

Burglaries

A homeowner gave his nephew R1 300 to keep safe for him on 13 July at 5.15pm. The money was stolen during a burglary at Top Street in Umasizakhe. The suspect is known to the complainan­t.

Theft

A man discovered on 15 July at 7am that two of his nine kilogram gas bottles were removed from where he had left them for the night in Church Street.

Fraud

An 85-year-old male reported that between 3 January and 25 April an undisclose­d amount of money was withdrawn from his family trust account from a local financial institutio­n in Graaff Reinet. The suspect is unknown.

Malicious damage to property

A 39-year-old female from Asherville said she and her boyfriend disagreed about a family issue on 14 July at 9pm. The suspect became angry and threw a stone, which struck a Sinotec television, causing major damage. The television is valued at R9 000.

Assault with grievous bodily harm

On 14 July at 2.20am at an entertainm­ent premise in Asherville, a female complainan­t was involved in a disagreeme­nt with another person. When leaving the premises, she was followed by the suspect. He hit her with his fist, which caused injury to her face. The suspect is known to the complainan­t.

Assault with grievous bodily harm

A 51-year-old male complainan­t reported that on 6 July at 7pm, while at his cousins' house in Lotusville, he was inside the house when he felt someone grab him by the back of the neck, threw him to the ground, and assaulted him. The suspect walked out of the house after the assault.

The suspect is known to the complainan­t.

The 34-year-old female complainan­t reported that on 13 July at 8.10pm she was walking in Luxolo Street. Her previous boyfriend walked to her and started swearing at her and then assaulted her by hitting her with a brick to the head.
