Stoep Sale a big success

-

Cold weather couldn’t keep locals away from the Camdeoo Hospice’s Stoep Sale in Graaff-Reinet on Saturday. The sale saw a lovely atmosphere, and organisers say it was a huge success.

“We are very pleased with the response from the community,” fundraiser Colleen Buckle told the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser. According to her, members of the community complied to Covid-19 regulations by hand sanitising and wearing masks.

Items sold on the day included bric a brac, kitchenware, toys, clothing, books, CDs and DVDs. A jumble sale was also open to promote this income-generating project, held by Hospice in the garage from 09:00 to 11:00. The stoep stall was manned by Buckle and volunteer, Wendy Mathie.

Of course, what is a Hospice fundraised without a book sale? This section of the Stoep Sale was manned by Gerald Buisman, who is chairperson of the Hospice board, and volunteer Lee Visser.

Avid readers can still invest in good reading material at low prices, at the Hospice from Mondays to Fridays from 08:30 to 15:30.

At the jumble sales, Brian Hough, Babs Verwey and Lize Geldenhuis were in charge, while Susan van der Linde was cashier for the morning.

“Thank you to the community for their much-appreciated support – they are our Hospice Heroes!,” Buckle added.
