SWD Cricket mourns former player

South Western Districts Cricket announced the passing of one of its former first-class cricketers, Nigel Brouwers (44) on 3 July. His mother Celeste also passed away on the same day.

Brouwers was born in Gqeberha in 1976. He made his debut for SWD in the 2006/07 season. In his debut match for SWD he scored his highest firstclass score (63) and in the List A match that followed he recorded his highest List A score ( 94).

From 1998 to 2009 he played a total of 31 first-class and 30 List A games in which he bagged 28 wickets as bowler.

“He produced some matchwinni­ng performanc­es with bat and ball but was also an outstandin­g slip fielder,” commented Albertus Kennedy, the Chief Executive Officer of SWD Cricket.
