SWD Cricket mourns former player
South Western Districts Cricket announced the passing of one of its former first-class cricketers, Nigel Brouwers (44) on 3 July. His mother Celeste also passed away on the same day.
Brouwers was born in Gqeberha in 1976. He made his debut for SWD in the 2006/07 season. In his debut match for SWD he scored his highest firstclass score (63) and in the List A match that followed he recorded his highest List A score ( 94).
From 1998 to 2009 he played a total of 31 first-class and 30 List A games in which he bagged 28 wickets as bowler.
“He produced some matchwinning performances with bat and ball but was also an outstanding slip fielder,” commented Albertus Kennedy, the Chief Executive Officer of SWD Cricket.
