You’ve been framed!
To take a yellow frame snapshot with the magnificent piled dolerite columns of the Valley of Desolation that stand like sentries against the plains of the Groot Karoo in the background is epic.
The frame is painted in a bright yellow, which initially sparked an outcry amongst some residents, who felt the colour green would have been a truer reflection of the town and its rich history (some have pointed out it bears a resemblance to the National Geographic yellow).
The final product is the result of a lot of thought, hours of research, consultation and planning to ensure that the yellow frame is not an eyesore to visitors or will not impact negatively on the environment. The strategic positioning thereof enjoyed preference.
Tourists (and locals) in GraaffReinet will love this new initiative set up in its gorgeous location so that visitors can photograph themselves from well-known and unusual views with the “cathedral of the mountains” as a backdrop.
