Excitement swept through the Dr
Beyers Naudé Local Municipality last weekend as football enthusiasts gathered to witness thrilling matches played by 20 clubs affiliated with the Local Football Association League. From Aberdeen, Jansenville and Graaff Reinet, the region buzzed with football fever.
At the Masizakhe Stadium, Eleven Attackers clashed with Real Madrid in a high-octane encounter, emerging victorious with a 4-2 win. Prior to that, Birds United soared to victory against Academy with an impressive 5-0 scoreline. Meanwhile, Dangerous Darkies unleashed their prowess against Destroyers FC of Aberdeen, securing a commanding 4-2 triumph.
Despite Masizakhe Stadium being the preferred playing field, its facilities face constant vandalism, posing challenges for the teams. Nevertheless, undeterred by setbacks, the teams are already gearing up for the upcoming annual Easter weekend tournament, eyeing substantial prizes. In light of the stadium's plight, tournament organisers urge the community to take pride in the facility and join hands in its restoration.
With collective effort, the stadium can be restored to its former glory, ensuring a vibrant sporting hub for future generations.
