He is going barefoot over the Compassberg Mountain

Barefoot over the Compassberg* Mountain. This is what Dawid de Wet will attempt on 1 May in aid of his son Richter's soccer team, the Dangerous Darkies**. Do not fear, because Dawid has climbed the Compassberg more than 20 times, albeit wearing shoes! This experienced climber and tour guide of his own business, Karoo 360, says he is confident that he will succeed.

De Wet's son, Richter, started with this team early in January, and the first thing he noticed was that none of the kids have shoes. They either play barefoot (on very rough terrain), or they share boots, each wearing only one. De Wet would like to make a difference in these children's lives and is calling on the support of everyone by either joining him on 1 May on the climb at an additional fee - he says that you are allowed to wear shoes. You can also make a contribution via BackaBuddy - https://www.backabuddy.co.za/dawid-dewet-5837195744555262142 towards the cause. Alternatively, you can donate a pair of soccer boots your child has outgrown and send it via PostNet or Pargo to GraaffReinet for attention: MG de Wet, 082 925 2309. His aim is to raise R30 000 to purchase each member of the team their own pair of soccer boots, a ball and kit. He has already managed to raise a few rand and is positive about reaching the target before the end of March. Please call De Wet to book your spot on the hike on 083 538 2865.
