Camdeboo celebrates victory over Young Challengers

-

Captain Kano Khali of Camdeboo Football Academy reflected on their hardfought victory against Young Challengers FC of Mount Ayliff, emphasising the challenges faced by the team during their journey.

The match, played on Sunday evening, 18 February at the Botanics grounds, saw the Academy clinch a narrow 2-1 win over their opponents. "It might seem easy, but it is very hard inside there," Khali remarked, encapsulating the resilience required to navigate through tough encounters on the field. Despite their triumph, he acknowledged the team's shaky performance in previous matches, particularly during the Motsepe game, where they were in dire need of a win.

As captain, Khali expressed accountability for the team's shortcomings, recognising the missed opportunities that could have secured a more comfortable lead. However, he commended the collective effort and determination that propelled them to victory, extending gratitude to the community for their support. Camdeboo Football Academy's inaugural season has been fraught with challenges, as reflected by their current position at the bottom of the ABC Motsepe League log.

Yet, this recent triumph holds significance, potentially averting relegation and igniting hope for future successes. Khali emphasised the crucial role of community backing in sustaining the team's progress and appealed for continued support as they strive to elevate Graaff-Reinet's footballing stature.

He underscored the academy's pivotal role as a pathway to professional football and urged stakeholders to rally behind their endeavours.

In other football news, the DBN Local Football Association witnessed actionpacked games over the weekend of 17 February, with only five outstanding matches remaining in the first round.
