Locals find solution for waste

-

Aberdeen residents recently launched their very own waste solution – the one-of-a-kind Green Zebra Waste Bin – made with waste for waste.

Vergil Green and Aiden Pullen who developed these used tyre bins believe that this waste solution will have a ripple effect across many government departments as it offers a multitude of benefits.

Health department

Proper waste disposal in the health department will minimise the risk of infectious diseases and lead to healthier communities. Potential health hazards will also be reduced as the bins will prevent wild animals from scavenging and spreading waste.

The bins will also contribute to environmental conservation in many ways. The wildlife-resistant design of the bins will prevent wild animals from accessing harmful waste.

This will contribute to the protection of these animals and, in effect, the safeguarding of natural habitats. The bins will also promote responsible waste disposal, mitigate pollution, and contribute to cleaner environments. In addition, more than 90% of the materials utilised in building the bins are recyclable. This minimises resource consumption and promotes sustainable practices.

Social and economic development

Supporting local initiatives like the

Green Zebra waste solution will ensure that communities are empowered socially and economically. The manufacturing and distribution of the Green Zebra Waste Bins will provide employment opportunities, reduce unemployment rates, and contribute to local economic development.

The establishment of a circular economy by demonstrating a commitment to recycling and reusing materials will be an added benefit of the bins.

According to Green they are in the process of developing an entire series of waste bins. The most recent addition to this series is the Green Meerkat Waste Bin. This bin is much smaller than the Green Zebra Waste Bin and designed for household refuse disposal. The Green Zebra Waste Bin is designed for storing refuse disposal bags after removal from the household. The Rugged Lion Bin will be the biggest version of these waste bins and is currently under construction.

Those who would like to get involved in this locally owned waste solution and contribute to waste management in their communities in a meaningful way, can contact Green on 081 062 6489.
