Finding the beauty of waste into worth’

Roche van den Berg, is an entrepreneur who started a small business called Roche Recycle Re-love – a recycling business that makes beautiful creations out of the rubber from waste tyres. Roche Recycle Re-love is a registered recycler with the Recycling Economic Development Initiative of South Africa (REDISA) which provides it with waste tyres at no cost.

Roche won the ‘Investing in People’ award at the inaugural REDISA Recognition Awards in May. She has made a direct impact on several communities through various upliftment and development projects and she has embraced the ‘waste into worth’ concept.

She finds young people without work in townships and teaches them to make beautiful objects. She also teaches them how to sell their products and create a business.
