Securing the reservoirs

Tshicilela this week answered questions from Grocott's Mail regarding plans to resecure the area.

“The municipality is planning to secure the reservoir, as it is a requirement by DWS that all water storage facilities should be secured,” Tshicilela said. “Moving forward, material that’s got no recycling value and that’s difficult to vandalise will be used to secure the reservoirs”.

She said Makana Municipality's strategy to secure its infrastructure generally included: using material with no recycling value in all in- frastructure projects; improving the security of vulnerable infrastructure by providing more on-site guards; ensuring that reported cases of vandalism are followed up with the police; and conducting community awareness campaigns about the effects of vandalism on the community at large.
