The St Andrew’s College Junior Colts A cricket side returned from the prestigiou­s Charl Van Rooyen Cricket Week having won three out of their four matches.

Wins against Affies, Pretoria Boys' High School and hosts Jeppe, were offset by the single loss against Hoerskool Waterkloof. Summary of results: Vs Waterkloof - Waterkloof 349/7 after 50 overs, St Andrew's 193 all out (Ryan Stoddart 42, James Green 35). St Andrew's lost by 156 runs. The St Andrew’s College U15As took part in the Grey High School Cricket Festival recently.

St Andrew's lost their first two games against Wynberg (Saturday) and Maritzburg College (Sunday) by 8 wickets. Myles Dankwerts top scored against Maritzburg with 53 not out. In the final game, St Alban's made 190/8 with Daniel Erasmus taking 3 for 36 and Myles Dankwerts taking 3 for 21. In response, St Andrew's managed to pass St Alban's total with 5 wickets in hand. Murray Wilson made 48 while Peter Jarvis made a century.

Graeme pupils Keenan Vieira, Luyolo Tshongweni, Nicholas Zimmerman and Garvin Dampies will participat­e in the U17 and U18 Cricket Trials on 11 and 12 October. Richard Beyleveld will attend a net trial. Mark Amm, Jeremy Beyleveld and Christophe­r Gleaves will participat­e in the U15 Trials which will be held in Port Elizabeth on 11 and 12 October. On Thursday 24 September, Graeme College pupils Garwin Dampies, Jayden Roesstorff and Raven Bush attended the U13 cricket trials, while Jack Botha and Logan Oerson attend the U11 trials.

SHOOTING

In the 1990s the plaque of Rameses the Great in his war chariot was presented to St Andrew's College in the hope that it would be utilised as a shooting trophy when a suitable competitio­n had been devised. When the SANDF removed the .22 Rifles from schools in 2003, College started buying in both Air Rifle and Archery Equipment. By 2005 the concept of the an interHouse Archery Competitio­n for the Egyptian Trophy was developed, from which the top 8 archers would qualify for the Individual Championsh­ips and the Jock Hobson Tankard. On Sunday the 10th anniversar­y of this competitio­n was held. 6. Merriman 604 5. Espin 884 4. Graham 885 3. Mullins 888 2. Upper 918 1. Armstrong 969 The top 8 Archers qualify for the Individual Championsh­ips. They are Andrew Joubert, Grant Price, Brett Harvey, David Fick, Zak Schlebusch, Oscar Evans, Tristan Cooke and Damon Evans.
